Robin Hood Was Here

One of Bidwell Park's longest-lasting claims to fame is that the original Hollywood movie, Adventures in Robin Hood, starring Errol Flynn, was filmed here in 1938. The park is overgrown with wild grape vines that threaten to swallow up the large oak and sycamore trees.

A Great Way to Enjoy Bidwell Park

Two girls have found the perfect way to spend the day and enjoy Bidwell Park. The road winding through Lower Bidwell on the south side is closed to vehicles so it's a great place for horses, bicyclists and those on foot that like a flat, even surface.

Lovejoy Basalt Formations

Upper Park remains relatively untouched with majestic canyons overlooking Big Chico Creek, which contains some of the most  spectacular swimming areas in Northern California.  The terrain varies from rolling to steep, with many rock formations, including the unique Chico Sandstone and Lovejoy Basalt rocks.
